What We Do

Our work focuses on four core key areas to help ensure the best possible outcomes for animals affected by disasters or emergencies.

Response

When activated for disasters or emergencies, Sonoma CART partners with Sonoma County Animal Services, working with first responders to safely evacuate, shelter in place, and/or transport large and small animals during disasters or emergencies.

Training

Our volunteers train year round working within the Incident Command System for large and small animal evacuation, animal handling, emergency sheltering, transportation, safety, communications, and response procedures to safely and effectively respond during disasters and emergencies.

Outreach | Education

We provide animal disaster preparedness and education through presentations, workshops, and public events. We also work with county agencies to share educational information and resources within our Sonoma County community. Request a team member to speak at your event or meeting.

Collaboration

We partner with Sonoma County Animal Services, County of Sonoma agencies, first responders, animal organizations, and local partners to strengthen coordination and education to support the animal  component of disaster and emergency response.
