About Sonoma CART
Sonoma Community Animal Response Team is a nonprofit, volunteer based organization dedicated to ensuring the best possible outcomes for animals affected by disasters or emergencies.
Since Sonoma CART's first activation in 2019, we've helped over 25,000 animals and their families during emergencies, disasters and also through large and small animal disaster preparedness education.
Our Mission Statement
Through year-round training, planning, community outreach, and collaboration with county agencies and community partners, we strengthen our collective ability to prepare for and respond to incidents helping ensure the best possible outcomes for all animals.
Our Role During a Disaster or Emergency
Approved by the local jurisdiction in coordination with Sonoma County Animal Services, Sonoma CART is the only animal response team in Sonoma County authorized to partner with first responders to safely evacuate, shelter in place, and/or transport large and small animals during disasters or emergencies in affected areas.
